Here are some links we find really helpful.

Whenever possible we help our homeowners redirect items they no longer need to groups who are able to use them. Here are links to some of these places.

The Furniture Bank accepts usable home furnishings and household goods.

The Red Door Shelter accepts household items and especially bedding, towels and toiletries.

Freecycle is a site where members (it is free to join) can post items they wish to give away or items they are looking for. The only stipulation is you have to give and receive for free. This to be a great site to find people who will want and use things one couldn't donate to other places. For example - pieces of area rugs, scrap metal, left overs from a tiling project and a broken electric sander! There is no harm in posting an ad to try to keep as much as possible out of landfill as possible.

This company accepts clean broken cement. I can't tell you how thrilled I was to take a whole load of broken cement I dug up from my backyard to a company that grinds it into usable aggregate rather having it dumped.

Whenever we have the chance we like to support Canadian artists. We often buy art, glass and clay works for the homes we decorate. This site lists and links to some terrific artists.
